IoT – the world of connected devices
The smart connected product market is expected to grow in the next 3-4 years to 30-50 billion devices. The relevant application areas will be smart homes and buildings, health care, industrial and automotive just to name the major ones. The requirements and use cases for these devices are very fragmented requiring i.e. heterogenous integration between different types of semiconductor devices. New sensors, low power connectivity standards, algorithms will be necessary to manage i.e. extended battery life. The borders between data in the cloud and local analytics is another hot topic which will require new standards and approaches.
Doris Keitel-Schulz is currently working at Infineon in the area of business development for new products and markets. Until recently she headed the ACDC-IC development. Her experience in product development spans from logic ICs, power ICs, memories to technology and design methodology. She worked for several years with innovative start-ups on new product concepts and European Governments on research and funding policies.
